This year I'm Centre Lead for Edinburgh (Prewired) YRS Centre. Kids hack all week, and we (Scottish Centres teaming up) take a coach to Birmingham on Friday for the Festival of Code at the weekend.

This group is 50-50 gender split. At the start, girls all claimed no/little programming experience, guys each listed a few languages. Interesting to see who is progressing fastest with the tasks.. :)
Enjoying watching kids discover that coding is mostly trial and error and wtf
Today's procrastination exercise is teaching 16 year olds how to make lego robots follow lines

Heading up this year's Edinburgh YRS contingent. Want to mentor? Sign up! Hoping to raise enough money to take two dozen kids to Birmingham on a coach, seeking sponsors...

Same as last year, but with twice as many students. Tirelessly answered student emails, made a few supplementary materials, mostly got the feedback sent on time; was nominated for a Best Teaching Award ^^ Oh, also organised a hands-on workshop this year, because I generally disagree with lectures.
Helped to organise the local centre, recruited participants in the run up; we got teams through to the semi-finals this time! The Festival of Code was in Plymouth this year, so most of our participants couldn't make the trip; organised a mini-alternative with Glasgow, Dundee and Aberdeen centres, in Dundee instead.
Marked courseworks where undergrad/taught masters students had to convert an open dataset to linked data and query it and stuff. It was pretty fun. Also helped students understand the course materials by email.
Now weekly. Sometimes more. See prewired.org.
