I borrowed a chromecast, but it turns out these days you need a mobile app to set it up, and the app can't proceed without allowing google access to your location.
(Last time I used one - many years ago - you just used a browser addon and the same wifi network..)
So uh.. An HDMI cable will do just fine then I guess.

Elsevier keeps 'ghost profiles' for people who don't have Mendeley accounts. You can "claim" your ghost, and it's "yours".. but uh.. not really because it's centralised. And this is presented like a nice fun helpful thing. Ghost profiles is some facebook-level creepy surveillence profiling shit. Makes me sad :( But not surprised.
Overhearing a guy explaining his app/startup to some people... the pitch is that the more time people spend getting 'sucked in' to online interactions on social media the less they manage to do offline meetings and stuff, and people want more of that. SO GUESS WHAT. THEY SOLVED IT WITH AN APP. lol.
Oh but ugh, the next thing he says (which sounds like the reason for this meeting) is that they want to start using all the information they are collecting on people for something. Oh I want so badly to sidle over and ask him about his ethics but I'm not going to.
OH GOD his "primary mission" is to "get into political stuff" :'(
